King of Jordan initiates reforms

The King of Jordan, Abdullah II, has passed a list of amendments to
the constitution, establishing a Constitutional Court and a special
independent court, RIA Novosti reports.

Candidates for parliament will have an age requirement drop from 35 to 25.

The king dismissed the government in February 2011 to avoid a revolt
in the country and promised political and economic reforms.

A commision for constitutional amendments was formed in late April
2011, headed by Prime Minister Ahmed Luzi.
