Armenian opposition may stop dialogue with ruling coalition

The Armenian National Congress (ANC) may stop the dialogue with the
authorities after the arrest of young activists last week,
press-secretary of the congress Arman Musinyan said.

The next round of talks are due to be held on August 16 at 10 am. The
issue will be discussed at the meeting.

The ANC believes that the recent arrest is a provocation and demands
an immediate release of the young activists, PanARMENIAN.net reports.

ANC activists Tigran Arakelyan and Artak Karapetyan were arrested on
August 9. Other activists Areg Gevorkyan, Saak Muradyan, Vaagn
Gevorkyan, Sargis Gevorkyan, David Kirimadzhanyan arrived at the spot
and wanted to resolve the situation. They were also detained. Violence
was used against their lawyers as well. The Armenian police accuse
them of attacks. Tigran Arakelyan, Artak Karapetyan, Sargis Gevorkyan
are under arrest, the others have been released.
