Abkhazia will hold elections in 10 days. Sukhumi hosted a presentation
of an interview of former Georgian Defense Minister Tengiz Kitovani to
Moskovskaya Pravda. The minister said that Acting President Alexander
Ankvab worked for the Georgian special services and provided them with
information on Abkhaz armed forces.
Ankvab urged candidates for president to avoid events in 2004, Interfax reports.
Alexander Ankvab said that Kitovani was bribed and worked against the
Abkhaz people. He expressed surprise that the minister was not
questioned for his crimes for 20 years.
Candidate for president Raul Hajimba commented on the interview of
Kitovani, saying that it is a violation of the agreement signed on the
elections. He questions why Kitovani was absent at the presidential
polls in 2004 and 2009.
Sergey Shamba has not commented on the interview yet.
