St. Petersburg governor urges harsher punishments for nationalists

Governor of Saint-Petersburg Valentina Matviyenko has proposed harsher
measures against unsanctioned nationalistic protests, ITAR-TASS
reports.

The statement was made at a session of the inter-department commission
for extremism control in the North-Western Federal District of Russia,
chaired by interior minister in Saint-Petersburg.

Matviyenko believes that participants of such protests should be fined
or detained for up to 15 days.
