Russian President Dmitry Medvedev is on a visit to Maikop in Adygeya
for a meeting with teachers and discussions of modernizing education,
RIA Novosti reports.
Russia traditionally has meetings of education staff in August, the
so-called August Councils. They are aimed at education improvements in
regional and municipal educational centers. Teachers, members of trade
unions and parents of pupils attend the councils. The Russian Ministry
for Education and Science supports the councils this year.
This year will see discussions of the federal law on education in
Russia and related legal acts.Results of the discussions are expected
on September 15 to start procedures on the law in October. Medvedev
will meet Adygeya Leader Aslan Tkhakushinov and will visit a school.
