Turkish PM visits Somalia

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is on a visit to Somalia
as the main initiator of support to the famine-stricken state.


Erdogan is assisted by his wife Emine Erdogan, Vice-Premier Bekit
Bozdag, Minister for Family and Social Policy Fatma Shakhin, Minister
for Food, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Mehdi Eker, Deputy Chairman
of the Justice and Development Party Omer Chelik and head of the
Religious Administration Mehmet Gyormez.


The plane was about to crash at Mogadishu during landing, when it hit
the ground with a wing, CNN Turk reports.


The plane was carrying Deputy Chairman of the Justice and Development
Party Mustafa Elitash, Chairman of the Association of Chambers and
Stock Markets of Turkey Ryfat Khisardzhyroglu, CEO of the Dogan
Holding Arzukhan Dogan Yalchyndag, Turkish show business figures Azhda
Pekkan, Sertap Erener and journalists.


Erdogan met Somali President Sheikh Sherif Ahmed, TRT reports.


The Turkish prime minister will visit a camp for humanitarian aid, a
refugee camp opening organized by the Turkish Red Crescent and a field
hospital set up by the Healthcare Ministry.
