The Court of Appeals of Armenia has released two young activists of the opposition Armenian National Congress. The two were detained on August 9 during a clash beween police and opposition protesters. The court upheld the detention of the third activist Tigran Arakelyan, freeing Artak Karapetyan and Sargis Gevorgyan, News.am report.
Sargis Gevorgyan's lawyer Stepan Voskanyan filed a motion for change of measure of restraint on the travel ban. In case of Artak Karapetyan lawyer Varduhi Elbakyan filed a motion for change of measure of restraint on bail of $ 8200, which was also approved.
Preventive measure against Tigran Arakelyan, who is accused of using violence against a law enforcement agent, remained the same, because the court did not consider the application adequately justified. Arakelyan's lawyer Varduhi Elbakyan said she would challenge decision in the Court of Cassation.
