Sukhumi to host round table discussion on Abkhaz elections

Sukhumi will today host a round table discussion of the presidential
polls in Abkhazia, organized by the Ayner media club at the conference
hall of the Union of Manufacturers and Entrepreneurs of Abkhazia.


Politologist Alexey Vlasov, Deputy Dean of the History Faculty of
Moscow State University and Editor-in-Chief of Vestnik Kavkaza, will
represent Russia at the meeting.


Sokrat Jinjolia, Director of the Abkhaz development fund “Institute of
Eurasian Studies”, will host the round table to discuss national
traditions of the unity of Abkhazia within the framework of the
elections on 26 August 2011. The head of the Central Electoral
Commission, Batal Tabaguya, will report on readiness for the
elections.


Politologist Stanislav Lakob, head of the Abkhaz State University of
Aleko Gvaramiya, will make a speech.


Abkhazia will have early presidential polls on August 26, due to the
death of President Sergey Bagapsh on May 29. Alexander Ankvab, Raul
Hajimba and Sergey Shamba are candidates for the position.


Organizers of the round table plan to inform Abkhaz society about the
readiness for the polls and prevention of any violations that may
cause falsified results and instability.
