Sukhumi is hosting a round table discussion of the presidential polls
in Abkhazia, organized by the Ayner media club at the conference hall
of the Union of Manufacturers and Entrepreneurs of Abkhazia.
Politologist Alexey Vlasov, Deputy Dean of the History Faculty of
Moscow State University and Editor-in-Chief of Vestnik Kavkaza, is
representing Russia at the meeting.
A video conference was organized with the Russian Central Electoral
Commission. Abkhazia reported on its readiness for the election
process.
Abkhazia will hold early presidential polls on August 26, due to the
death of President Sergey Bagapsh on May 29. Alexander Ankvab, Raul
Hajimba and Sergey Shamba are candidates for the position.
Organizers of the round table plan to inform Abkhaz society about the
readiness for the polls and prevention of any violations that may
cause falsified results and instability.
