Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmed Davutoglu has arrived in Libya’s Benghazi today, Trend reports.
The minister will have meetings with the Libyan National Transitional Government and the contact group for Libya in Turkey this week.
Turkish rebels captured Tripoli attacking from the west and east, Al Jazeera and Al Arabia report.
Head of the National Transitional Government Mustafa Abdel Jalil announced capture of Muammar Gaddafi’s son Mohammad. Earlier reports said three sons were captured, which proved to be false.
Libya has been struck by disorders since mid-February. Rebels demand Libyan Leader Muammar Gaddafi, who has been at power for over 40 years, to resign. The UN Security Council passed a resolution on no-fly zone over Libya. An embargo on arms trade and protection of the population came into force on March 19 with the start of a military operation. NATO took full control of the operation. The mandate for the operation expired on June 27, however, NATO prolonged it by 90 more days, until September, on June 1.
