Turkish air forces attacked positions of militants of the Kurdish
workers Party (PKK) in northern Iraq, the General Headquarters of the
country’s armed forces said, RIA Novosti reports. The air raid in the
Zap region resulted in 50 targets hit.
The PKK has been trying to achieve Kurdish autonomy in south-eastern
Turkish for a quarter of a century. The conflict has taken the lives
of over 40 thousand people. The UN and EU recognize the PKK as a
terrorist organization.
