Dagestani President Magomedsalam Magomedov and Azerbaijani Deputy
Chairman of Government Yagub Yubov have had a telephone conversation,
RIA Dagestan reports.
They discussed the deportation of villagers from Khrakh-Uba and
Uryan-Uba to Russia. The villages belong to the Magaramkentsky and
Akhtynsky Districts respectively. They ended up in Azerbaijan after
the Soviet Union collapsed. The Azerbaijani authorities allowed the
villagers to decide their citizenship until August 24, 2011.
The Azerbaijani authorities decided not to deport the villagers by force.
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Dagestani President Magomedsalam
Magomedov had a meeting in Sochi on August 19, 2011. Magomedov
requested Medvedev to pass a program. The Russian president ordered
measures to be taken.
