Karabakh conflict should be resolved this year - OSCE representative

"The Karabakh conflict should be resolved this year," said rapporteur on Nagorno-Karabakh problems and the ambassador at large of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly on Georgian issues Goran Lennmarker during a meeting on Thursday with students at Yerevan State University, Novosti Armenia reports.

"We should give a quick solution to this problem later this year, because in the course of the conflict people are continually being killed," Lenтmarker said, emphasizing that the solution could only be of purely peaceful nature.

According to him, it is absolutely possible. Lennmarker noted that it was necessary to find mechanisms ensuring peace and stability for the long term. "The solution must proceed from the security interests of the Armenian people. I am sure that the president of Armenia will not accept a version that does not start from the security needs of the Armenian people," he said.

At the same time, Lennmarker emphasized that the agreement must be acceptable not only to the Armenian people and authorities, but also to the Azerbaijani side.
