Employees of Ingushetia's largest transport enterprise on strike

The employees of Ingushetia's largest and only transport enterprise
‘Ingushavtotrans’ are on strike. According to one of the protestors,
the strike was held due to wage debts, RIA Novosti reports.

The Director of ‘Ingushavtotrans', Abuyazid Aushev, admitted the
halting of the enterprise. He said that the enterprise owes 8 million
roubles to its employees. “The region’s government reached an
agreement to pay the debts before August 20th, the protest should stop
tomorrow”, Aushev said.

One of the protestors said that all the employees, 700 people, had
stopped work. The enterprise transports approximately 5000 people a
day in the republic and neighbouring regions. He added that private
transportation joined the protest out of solidarity.

One of the republic’s citizens said that taxi fares in the region
doubled this Thursday. “There were no minibus taxis or buses and if I
went to Nazran from Ordzhonikidze Cossack village for 50 roubles by
minibus taxi, today I have to pay 1 thousand roubles for an ordinary
taxi with a fare of 600 roubles”, he said.
