South Africa has blocked the resolution of the UN Security Council on
the National Transitional Council (NTC) of Libya, initiated by the
USA. The NTC was to receive $1.5 billion of frozen accounts of the
Libyan government and fuel worth $500 million as international
humanitarian support, ITAR-TASS reports.
South African Ambassador to the UN Baso Sanggu said that it is against
unfreezing accounts.
South Africa and a set of members of the African Union have not
recognized the NTC as the new government of Libya. The situation in
Jamakhiria will be discussed in Ethiopia.
The USA says that if an agreement will not be reached in several hours
the resolution on accounts would be passed for voting today or on
Friday.
