CIS summit in Dushanbe to discuss 11 documents

The Commonwealth of Independent States' Council of Foreign Ministers is set to consider 11 documents regarding various aspects of interstate cooperation at a meeting to be held in Dushanbe on 2 September, BelTA cites the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

The CIS Foreign Ministers will discuss the draft assessment report “Achievements of the CIS over 20 Years and Tasks for the Future”, which contains an overall assessment of the two decades of development of the CIS and analyzes the results of cooperation of the states-members of the CIS in the economic and humanitarian areas, security and other sectors. 

The Foreign Ministers are also scheduled to consider a draft statement of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers “On ensuring the complementary and mutually beneficial nature of integration”. The draft statement notes the increasing role of regional organizations in global politics and the economy.

All the CIS member states are expected to attend the summit. The majority of them will be represented by their leaders. Heads of
government will arrive at the summit on behalf of two CIS countries.
