Status quo in Nagorno-Karabakh is unacceptable - Azerbaijan

The Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict can be resolved only within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, Foreign Minister Elmar Mamadyarov said at a meeting with a delegation of several countries’ permanent representatives at the UN, Trend cites the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry as saying in a statement.

Mamadyarov stated that the preservation of the status quo in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict by the international community is
unacceptable.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988, when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. In 1992 the Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and 7 surrounding districts.
