Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu has called on the UN to raise the rebels’ flag at its September session in a display of full support for the National Transitional Council of Libya, Today's Zaman reports.
“The National Transitional Council [NTC] of Libya has proved that it is a reliable partner of the international community as it has successfully fulfilled its pledges,” Davutoğlu said during an opening speech prior to the extraordinary session of the Contact Group consisting of international powers involved in Libya’s transition process.
The group gathered in İstanbul following an invitation by Turkey, currently acting as the rotating president, following the triumph of opposition forces over pro-Gaddafi forces at the headquarters of Muammar Gaddafi, whose whereabouts remain unknown.
