According to Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow Turkmenistan has made its cooperation with the CIS more active over the past few years, Trend reports.
The President made this statement in the context of discussing future meeting of CIS leaders in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
Mr Berdimuhamedow explained that even though Turkmenistan is only an associate member, which is required by its position of constant international neutrality, the country’s politics towards boosting the cooperation with CIS countries is consistent.
Turkmenistan will chair the organization in 2012. Since the proclamation of its neutrality in 2005 the country has nevertheless hosted a number of important CIS-related events.
