Russia to hold parliamentary polls on December 4

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has had a meeting with political party leaders. He signed a decree on parliamentary polls for December 4, 2011. The decree comes into force after official publication. Thus, Medvedev has launched the electoral campaigning, RIA Novosti reports.

President Medvedev also demanded organizers of the electoral process to take into account possible augmentation of interethnic tensions and calls for illegal actions.


Medvedev said that all Russian polling stations will have electronic voting systems by 2015. The coming parliamentary elections will have about 5,000 polling stations with new equipment installed.
