Iran urges Syria to launch reforms

The foreign minister of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi addressed to the authorities of Syria and urged them to listen to legal demands of people, who participate in anti-governmental demonstrations, The Independent reports.
According to the minister, the Middle East can deep into chaos, if Assad continues ignoring the urges to reform the country.

Earlier official Tehran supported activities of the Syrian authorities on crackdown of demonstrations, stating that initiators of riots in Syria were from West. Iran and Syria are strategic partners, and the position of Iran was quite understandable.

Reasons for changing Iran’s attitude toward the Syrian authoritiesare still unknown.
