Turkmenistan is planning to expand cooperation with Central Asia and
the Caspian region, Trend reports.
The state plans to develop transport infrastructure and communications
for further integration into global economic development and
attracting investments.
The North-South and East-West corridors are priorities, as well as the
Central Asia-Persian Gulf communication network for Caspian-Black Sea
transport communications.
Turkmenistan plans improving access to markets in Europe,
South-Eastern Asia, and the Middle East. A general plan for
development until 2020 was developed for the international seaport of
Turkmenbasha on the Caspian and the Turkmen trade fleet. The port will
have new terminals and warehouses.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the
Japanese International Agency for Cooperation and the International
Bank for Reconstruction and Development expressed interest in the
multi-billion project of developing the port.
