The Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resource Usage inspected 64 illegal dump sites in the North Caucasus in August, RIA Novosti reports.
The 64 illegal dump sites cover 26.8 hectares, 27 of them are in Karachay-Cherkessia. Over 50% of dump sites were found in villages and over 20% (13) in water conservation districts.
Stavropol Territory and North Ossetia have most dumpsites, covering 11.8 hectares and 7.6 hectares respectively.
