Russia wants Central Asia to organize security enforcement

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev had a meeting with the leaders of
Afghanistan, Pakistan and Tajikistan - Hamid Karzay, Asif Ali Zardadi
and Emomali Rahmon. He believes that Central Asia should have
responsibility for security in the region, RIA Novosti reports.


Security in Central Asia and trade were discussed in Dushanbe. The
sides will pass a joint declaration at the end of the meeting.


It is the third such meeting. The first was held in Dushanbe on 30
July 2009, the second in Sochi in August 2010. The traditional topics
are Afghan settlement, terrorism, drug control and economic
development. Medvedev is on a visit to Tajikistan at the invitation of
President Emomali Rahmon.
