Former Armenian foreign minister suspected links between Dathnaktsutyun and Kurdistan Workers’ Party

Former Armenian Foreign Minister Vagan Papazyan believed that
Dashnaktsutyun and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party had links, US
Ambassador Garry Gilmore said in a report on 26 July 1993, published
by WikiLeaks, Armtoday reports.

Papazyan said that the Armenian government cannot have any links with
the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). But there may be links between the
PKK and opposition groups, the former minister said in Athens.

The US embassy in Turkey tried to find proof of publication of a PKK
magazine in Armenia. Only two magazines were published and most Kurds
in Armenia are not Muslims.

The ambassador said that Armenia is doing its best to normalize
relations with Turkey and would avoid Kurdish organizations.
