Austrian President Heinz Fischer has urged his compatriots to avoid
discrimination against Muslims. The speech was made at the Eid al-Fitr
feast held at the largest mosque in Austria.
The president underlined that Muslims living in Austria must follow
the local laws. Austria is a secular state, he noted.
About 5,000 people arrived at the largest mosque of Austria, built at
the Islamic Center in Vienna. It is the first such high-scale marking
of the feast. The president is expected to take part in celebrations
of the 100th anniversary of Islam in Austria in the future.
