Kazakhstan recognizes National Transitional Council of Libya

Kazakhstan has recognized the National Transitional Council of Libya, spokesman of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry Askar Abdrakhmanov said, News Kazakhstan reports.


Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Kayrat Sarybay met Libyan representative in Kazakhstan Ahmed Ad-Dib.
Abdrakhmanov noted that Kazakhstan has hopes for the NTC’s measures to secure the population and restore stability.


Kazakhstan is chairing the Organization of the Islamic Conference. It is ready for all necessary support to resolve the situation.


Libya has had mass disorders since mid-February with demands for Muammar Gaddafi, who was at power for over 40 years, to resign. With support of NATO the rebels took control of Libya’s capital Tripoli in late August. There is no information on Muammar Gaddafi. Part of his family went to Algiers.


Opposition formed the National Transitional Council in February. About 60 states have recognized it, including Russia and Ukraine.
