Five members of the terrorist group of al-Qaeda have been arrested by Iranian police forces in Kerman Province in southeastern Iran, the province's Police Chief Hossein Chenarian says, Press TV reports.
“These individuals intended to move large caches of arms, ammunition and explosives into the country,” Chenarian said on Tuesday, IRNA reports.
Investigations show that the al-Qaeda members intended to carry out acts of sabotage inside Iran, the police official further said.
He also said that police forces have confiscated arms and ammunition as well as documents from the detainees, who had been identified and arrested over the past two weeks.
