The Armenian state language inspectorate has found 60 cases of
violations in Yerevan this year, Professor Sergo Yeritsyan, PhD for
Philology, acting head of the inspectorate, said today, News Armenia
reports.
Two cases have resulted in court victory. The main problem concerns
labels on walls of buildings.
Yeritsyan said that 21 protocols were made, 7 were dealt with, the
rest will be under judicial procedures. Most violations were
registered in Yerevan.
The mechanism was simplified with the passing of the bill on
advertisements and amendments to the Code of Administrative
Violations. The law demands use of literary Armenian language,
translation of advertisements must not exceed the original. The
process of fixing labels is going slower than expected.
The language commission has presented a report on proposals and
language violations in TV.
