Russian electoral debates to be broadcast live

Russian parliamentary electoral debates will be broadcasted live,
Minister for Communication Igor Shegolev said at the “government hour”
today, RIA Novosti reports.


VGTRK will provide digital broadcasting. Debates will start 28 days
ahead of the elections, which will be held on December 4, 2011.


Member of the LDPR Sergey Ivanov proposed debates be broadcast at
prime-time, however, the offer was left without an answer.


Member of the Just Russia Party, Svetlana Goryacheva, expressed
discontent that everyone had had a chance to express their opinions at
the meeting with the president, only Mironov of the same party
received no such chance.


The Central Electoral Commission of Russia approved the list of state
media to allow political debates.


The list includes TV channels Russia-24, Russia-1, First Channel,
Tv-Center, radio stations Radio Rossii, Mayak, Vesti-FM, Golos Rossii.
The list also involves Rossiyskaya Gazeta, Parlamentskaya Gazeta,
Tverskaya 13, Moskvichka, Bashkortostan, Respublika Bashkortostan,
Kyzyl Tan, Omet, Tolon, Echo Planety, Moskovskiye Novosti, Krasnaya
Zvezda, Gudok, Shield and Sword, Granitsa Rossii and Kulturnaya
Pyatnitsa.
