EU demands Turkey to stop threatening Cyprus

The European Commission issued yesterday its strongest appeal to Turkey to stop its threatening behavior in relation to Cyprus to drill for hydrocarbon reserves within its own Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). 

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan continues vowed yesterday to stop Israel and Cyprus from exploiting natural resources in the eastern Mediterranean while also pledging to send warships to escort aid to Gaza.


The EU, through Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule yesterday “urged Turkey to refrain from any kind of threat, sources of friction or action, which could negatively affect good neighbourly relations and the peaceful settlement of border disputes”, western media reports.
