As part of the program on informing the population about the threat of
nuclear smuggling, the US Department of State has held a conference in
Tbilisi. Participants at the conference discussed progress in
implementing activities under joint Georgian-American documents on
improving the capability of Georgia in the fight against nuclear
smuggling.
The conference was also aimed at coordinating the aid of the US and
other international organizations, as well as seeking additional
funding for priority projects, Trend was told in the US Embassy in
Georgia.
The conference brought together about 40 representatives of seven
ministries of Georgia, nine potential donor organizations and several
US agencies.
