CSTO to monitor social websites

The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will monitor social websites to avoid a repeat in its member states of the events in Tunisia and Egypt, Izvestia reports.


Mobile communication, social websites and non-governmental organizations may threaten stability. But the monitoring of websites does not mean censorship. The US press reported about the so-called “shadow Internet”. The US spent over $50 million in an alternate web system to infiltrate states that block the Internet and stop mass protests coordinated through social websites, the paper wrote.
