Ukraine and Turkey to lift visa regime in December

Turkey and Ukraine plan to lift the visa regime, Ukrainian Ambassador to Turkey Sergey Korsunsky said, APA-Economics reports.


An agreement on a visa-free regime will be signed in December within the framework of Ukrainian President Victor Yushchenko's visit to Turkey. The presidents of Turkey and Ukraine will hold a session of the Strategic Council.


The agreement will be ratified by May 2012 to allow Turkish fans to attend the European Football Championship. 1 million tourists are predicted to arrive should Turkey reach the final, the ambassador said.
Korsunsky added that about 40,000 Turks visit Ukraine annually, 750,000 Ukrainians visit Turkey.
