Yuri Chaika becomes Chairman of Coordination Council of CIS Prosecutor Generals

Russian Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika has been appointed as Chairman of the Coordination Council of the CIS Prosecutor Generals, BELTA reports.


The council has been operating for 16 years, together with the CIS Executive Committee and the Parliamentary Assembly. It has developed 25 legal acts for crime, terrorism and other spheres.


The Coordination Council is located in Minsk and consists of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan and Ukraine. It puts emphasis on fighting crime and extremism, as well as protection of human rights. A plan for 2011-2013 is to be adopted.
