The international scientific and practical conference "Social and economic development of the South Caucasus' countries: problems and perspectives" took place in the President hotel in Moscow. The organizers of the event were the Faculty of History of Moscow State University, the information and analytical agency "Vestnik Kavkaza", the Russian State University of the Humanities, the Centre for topical research "Alternative" (Kazakhstan) and the Centre of Strategic Research for the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Opening the event, the chancellor of the RSUH, chairman of the Society of Friendship of Russia and Azerbaijan, Yefim Pivovar noted the importance of such events and direct and fruitful contacts between research centres and political scientists of Russia, Azerbaijan and other post-Soviet countries.
The Azerbaijani ambassador to Russia, Polad Biul-Biul Ogly, remarked on the high level of current relations between Russia and Azerbaijan, the high level of mutual political understanding and personal relations between the heads of the countries and called these relations strategic and actively developing in all spheres.
Speaking of the Nagorno-Karabakh problem, the ambassador added that recently Russian experts have started to consider this problem more objectively, trying to understand the positions of both sides.
The head of political analysis and press coverage for the Presidential administratioin of Azerbaijan, Elnur Aslanov, underlined the topicality of the event and noted how extremely important it is that political scientists from Russia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan gather together to discuss world issues.
