One police officer was killed and another was wounded in an attack by alleged members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the southern province of Kahramanmaraş late Tuesday, Hurriyet Daily News reports.
PKK militants attacked a traffic police vehicle with long-range weapons near a gas station in the province’s Pazarcık district.
Two policemen were taken to Pazarcık State Hospital after being critically injured in the attack. Yavuz Bayal, 25, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital while 27-year-old Hacı Kalkan, who was heavily wounded in the head, was transferred to Kahramanmaraş State Hospital.
