Bomb threat halts Southern Express in Turkey

Turkey's Southern Express was stopped at a train station in the Central Anatolian Kırıkkale province due to a bomb threat. The train was travelling between the southeastern Siirt province and Istanbul, Hurriyet Daily News reports. Eight suspects were taken into custody following the event.

A suspicious package found onboard was taken into investigation by the police. It was later reported that the package contained an explosive mechanism but hadn't been activated.

The search of the train continued to make sure there were no other packages onboard that might be of danger to the passengers.

The suspects were taken off the train immediately for questioning.
