Iran urges security cooperation with China

 

The Islamic Republic of Iran and China have emphasized on the importance of bolstering bilateral cooperation to counter common security threats, Press TV reports.

 

Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili and Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Meng Jianzhu held talks in the central Russian city of Yekaterinburg on Wednesday concerning bilateral security cooperation and the latest developments in the region. 

 

During the meeting, the two sides called for the formation of a group for security cooperation with the participation of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in an effort to thwart common security threats. 

 

Jalili is in Russia to attend the two-day second international meeting of secretaries of national security councils in Yekaterinburg in the presence of representatives from 65 countries.
