The two blasts in Makhachkala this morning were equivalent to 38-43 kg of NTN, RIA Novosti reports.
The first bomb detonated at 11 Yermoshkin Street at 00:20 am. The bomb was planted under a vehicle and was equivalent to about 3 kg of TNT. No one was injured.
The second blast happened 40 meters away at 00:35 am. The bomb was planted under a vehicle, contained projectiles and was equivalent to 35-40 kg of TNT. A police lieutenant died, 44 police officers and 16 civilians were injured.
The first blast caused a crater 70 cm in diameter and 10 cm deep, the second – 3 meters in diameter and 30 cm deep.
Another grave crime took place in Dagestan today. Unidentified assailants attacked the car of Nabi Adilkhanov, head of the police station of Buynaksky District. The police officer was not injured, however his accompanies died. The police say they came under attack by machine guns.
