US-Iran relations depends on Washington - Ahmadinejad

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says any future relations between Iran and the United States will be determined by Washington's change in attitude toward Tehran, Iranian news agency Press TV reports on Thursday.

American officials need to modify their attitude toward Iran, give due respect to the Iranian nation and government, and adhere to their commitments for any improvement of relations between the two countries, said President Ahmadinejad in an interview with Charlie Rose from the PBS channel in the US, Press TV cites the state-run news agency IRNA.

The Iranian president pointed out that Washington unilaterally cut relations with Tehran three decades ago and embarked on hatching plots against the Islamic Republic ever since despite America's commitment to the Article I of the Algiers Accord which prohibits the US from any political or military interference in Iran's internal affairs.

President Ahmadinejad referred to Tehran's approach to having constructive relations with other countries and highlighted the Iranian nation's historical passion for peace.
