Colonel Magomed Murtazaliyev, Deputy Chief of the Dagestani Directorate of the Federal Penitentiary Service, his daughter and driver have been killed in Makhachkala today, RIA Novosti reports.
Unidentified assailants shot them in the village of Semender from a passing vehicle.
Murtazaliyev was operating at the Federal Penitentiary Service in Dagestan, promoting the law at penal institutions.
Makhachkala experienced terrorist attacks earlier. Two vehicles exploded, killing a police officer and injuring 60 people.
A source in Dagestan said that the bombing was a response to the murder of Khasavyurt Emir Soltan Said Soltanov, nicknamed Mishka, and his wife Sabina Musayeva at Babayurt on September 18.
The terrorist attacks were organized by Dagestani militant leader Ibragimhalil Daudov, who has been on the wanted list since 2009. His wife accidentally blew herself up in Moscow on New Year's eve.
