Over 3,700 red tape case were registered in the Southern and North Caucasian federal Districts this year with 984 people convicted, RIA Novosti reports.
1,000 of the cases are bribery. The Prosecutor general's Office inspected the regions. Specialists analyzed over 44,500 legal acts, ruled out corruption factors in over 2,000. Over 10,000 corruption-reaction acts were passed.
Serious problems were found with passing of procedural sentences. Mistakes made in investigations complicate the situation. Terms of certain cases are prolonged for no reason. The Prosecutor General's Office developed a complex of measures to cope with the problems.
