Nine people were killed on Saturday when Kurdish separatist militants attacked a Turkish police station, Turkish authorities said on Sunday, Trend cites DPA.
Armed members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party attacked the station in the Pervari district of Siirt province. Six police officers were killed and 11 injured, while security forces killed three of the attackers.
The Kurdistan Workers' Party is classified as a terrorist organization by the United States and the European Union. The group has been fighting for an independent Kurdish state since the 1980s and also operates in northern Iraq.
