Today the Dagestani office of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs held a meeting devoted to the current situation surrounding terrorism and extremism in the republic, Russian Information Agency Dagestan reports.
The meeting of the law-enforcement agencies' representatives was attended by the Dagestani president, Magomedsalam Magomedov.
The assembled officials discussed the problem of terrorism and frequent assassinations of the republic's law-enforcement agencies members.
According to the Deputy Attorney General of the Russian Federation, Irav Sydoruk, who addressed the assmbled officials, in the last 8 month 8.5 per cent more crimes were registered in the republic.
Assassinations of the republic's officials and attempts on their lives are especially disturbing, the federal official said.
The head of the republic urged the law-enforcement agencies to combat extremism and terrorism adequately.
