Gul dismisses Swedish parliament’s Armenian genocide decision

Turkish President Abdullah Gul has said a decision by Sweden’s parliament to recognize as genocide the killing of Armenians by Turks in 1915 lacks credibility, APA reported.

“We all know how these decisions are made,” the Turkish leader said. “From our point of view it lacks authority.”

“I’d like to repeat what I said when the resolution was accepted by the United States Congress,” Gul went on.

“If we ask the personal opinion of each of those who voted for it, they won’t be able to say more than a few words. We shouldn’t attach too much importance to this,” he added, saying the Turkish people did not “respect” the move.
