Kabardino-Balkaria renames presidential position

The Kabardino-Balkaria Parliament passed amendments to the Constitution in the third reading on Thursday. The title “President of Kabardino-Balkaria” will be replaced with “Head of Kabardino-Balkaria”, RIA Novosti reports.

The amendment will come into force on January 1, 2012. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree in December 2010 that renames “presidents” to “head”, “supervisor”, “chairman of government” or other names, according to their traditions.

Regions are to introduce constitutional amendments by January 1, 2015.
