The Azerbaijani parliament will discuss the law on ex-presidents, Speaker Oktay Asadov said, AZE.az reports.
The speaker denied reports that the law on defamation would also be discussed.
Some MPs proposed discussions on Lake Urmia and Azerbaijani compatriots living there. MPs Ganir Pashayev, Fazail Agamaly, Siyavush Novruzov and Igbal Agazade expressed concern with drought of Iran’s Lake Urmia and the local Azerbaijani population. They want to prepare a request to the Iranian Parliament, News Azerbaijan reports.
Lake Urmia covers about 6,000 square kilometers. It has been drying out in the last years. It contains 330 grams of salt per liter, compared with 160-170 grams earlier.
Iranian president visited Tabriz last year. He proposed construction of a pipeline from River Araz to fill Urmia with 600 million cubic meters of water.
The Iranian Parliament proposed unscheduled discussions of projects to prevent the lake from drying out in mid-August. Water was to be used from Rivers Araz and Silve.
Urmia and Tabriz Cities held protests with demands to prevent the lake from drying. 60 people were arrested at the latest meeting in Urmia City on Saturday.
