A rail explosion that derailed 14 freight cars near Makhachkala, the capital of Russia’s North Caucasus republic of Dagestan, was an act of terrorism, Russian police said on Friday, ITAR-TASS reports.
No one was hurt in Thursday evening’s blast, which has caused delays to services in the region. Repair work on the line is expected to be completed later today.
The news agency said police had opened an investigation on terrorism and the illegal transport of explosives charges.
