Protests at Freedom Square in Yerevan dubbed civil forum

The opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) proclaimed the 24/7 protests at the Freedom Square in Yerevan a people’s civil forum aimed at making further development of the country an obligation of every citizen.


First Armenian President Levon Ter-Petrosyan and the ANC announced in Yerevan on September 30 that the Freedom Square will have protests all day long and a tent camp. The Freedom Square is near the State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet. Opposition demands early parliamentary and presidential polls, planned for 2012 and 2013 respectively, News Armenia reports.


The forum will discuss and develop political development of Armenia in all spheres and allow every citizen to take part in the process. Each citizen may contribute to development of the concept for Armenia.


Groups will operate at the Freedom Square, each will see a program developed by the congress. They will also discuss healthcare, foreign policy, ecology, education and science, culture, defenses and economy.
Such work will be held daily from 3 to 6 pm.


An information board will have update on report topics and places of their presentation.
